Cesvi publishes the report describing its commitment during the Covid-19 emergency. Download it here to find out about all of the actions implemented to tackle the pandemic in Italy and in the world.

Covid-19 has returned to scare the whole of Italy. The epidemic does not stop and the numbers continue to rise exponentially, making the situation in our Country dramatic once again.

Since the beginning of the epidemic in March Cesvi has chosen to take action to support Bergamo, the city most affected during the first phase, Milan and all of Lombardy, that still remains the Region most devastated by Covid-19.

Cesvi used its experience in emergency management and launched a fundraising campaign through which it collected over 5 million euros to support the hospitals of Bergamo and take social action in Bergamo and Milan areas to support the economically weakest segment of the over 65’s. It also intervened to support the recovery of small businesses in Bergamo trough the “Rinascimento Bergamo” program.

In recent months Cesvi has supported Papa Giovanni XXIII Hospital in Bergamo and Ospedale da Campo degli Alpini by supplying medical devices and urgent machinery, providing help to the Agnecy for the Protection of Health of the Province of Bergamo (ATS) and supporting convalescence facilities for discharged Covid patients. During the emergency, Cesvi donated over 1 million personal protection equipment sets, a cardio help, a mobile CT scan, 500 ventilators and other urgent medical equipment.

At the same time it took action to support the over 65s. In collaboration with the Municipal Department of Social Policies, a project was launched in Bergamo to help the over 65s by delivering to their home shopping, full meals, personal protection supplies and medicines, as well as guaranteeing social assistance services and transport for medical tests. These services supported over 1000 elderly people. A similar project was also implemented in the Municipality VI of the city of Milan, in collaboration with Cooperative Spazio Aperto Servizi, through which more than 300 people over the age 65 were helped.

Finally, to sustain the recovery of businesses in need and give new hope to the productivity of the city and its suburbs, the “Rinascimento Bergamo” project was created. The project is promoted by the Municipality of Bergamo, Intesa Sanpaolo and Cesvi, who manages it.

The project involves the distribution of 10 million euros straight grants to cover the expenses that small commercial and craft enterprises have had during lockdown and to adjust to the new Covid-19 context.

Rinascimento Bergamo has supported over 3000 micro businesses in the area.

Cesvi’s commitment does not stop. Even in this new phase we continue to work with local health units to support them during this new wave and we are alongside the most vulnerable in Bergamo, Milan and other cities in Italy to protect them and provide psychological support, care and concrete help.
