Cesvi in Libya: food distribution in Benghazi

The World Food Program (WFP) in coordination with the Libyan Humanitarian Relief Agency (Lib Aid) and the United Nation High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) distributed food baskets in Benghazi for refugees and asylum seekers, with Cesvi monitoring the process.

The distribution took place within the premises of the Libyan society for First Aid & Response (LSFAR) from 28 to 30 August 2016. SMSs were sent by UNHCR to all of the people of our concern (POCs) in a list prepared by UNHCR in coordination with Cesvi. The list consisted of 345 cases but – as agreed with WFP and UNHCR – baskets were also distributed to those cases (out of the list) who showed up on the days of the distribution and had registration cards from UNHCR.

The food baskets consisted of: rice, pasta, chickpeas, flour, sugar, tomato paste, sunflower oil.

The distribution went on for 3 days from 9:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m.

In addition, Cesvi took the opportunity of the food distribution to deliver the attestations for those beneficiaries who were included in the process of data collection for registration in the year of 2016.
