“Strada Facendo” is a project promoted by Cesvi as part of the “Never Alone, for a possible tomorrow” initiative.

The aim of the project is to promote the experimentation, the diffusion in network and the repeatability of good practice in reception, and integration of Unaccompanied Foreign Minors and young migrants between 16 and 19 years of age.

Four territories are involved in the project (Bergamo, Bologna, Livorno and Siracusa): four Italian provinces with very different numbers and experience of reception of foreign minors.

Thanks to the “Strada Facendo” project, over 170 young migrants can study, follow training courses and receive the support necessary for becoming self sufficient and start the delicate passage into adulthood.

At the same time Strada Facendo enables 17 public authorities, social cooperatives and professional training bodies to dialogue and collaborate, so that positive experiences and everyone’s skills can be shared over the widest possible network of professionals.

During the three years the project will last, more than ten moments for training and in-depth analysis on specific themes will be organised in all the areas involved. Themes such as human trafficking, the voluntary protection of unaccompanied minors, socio-psychiatric support, self sufficiency in housing, and inter-institutional dialogue between bodies involved in immigration will be tabled.

The road to which the project title refers (the italian word “Strada”) is not only the one followed by the young migrants to arrive in Italy, but the metaphorical one they must then follow responsibly in drawing up a personal life project, wherever that may lead them.

It is also the route the public and private bodies, that are charged with finding adequate and integrated solutions to accompany, strengthen and empower these young people along their migratory journey, must take.

It is the path that every territorial community must follow, while respecting its own characteristics and aware if its own identity, but also aware of the need for cultural change which everyone must share in and carry forward.

The “Strada Facendo” project takes part to “Never Alone, for a possible tomorrow”, an initiative promoted by Cariplo Foundation, Compagnia di San Paolo, CON IL SUD Foundation, Enel Cuore, Cassa di Risparmio di Torino Foundation, Cassa di Risparmio di Cuneo Foundation, Cassa di Risparmio di Padova e Rovigo Foundation, Monte dei Paschi di Siena Foundation and Peppino Vismara Foundation, within the setting of the European Program EPIM “Never Alone – Building our future with children and youth arriving in Europe”.
“Strada Facendo” was selected in the framework of the 2016 National call for proposals “Reception and accompanying of foreign unaccompanied minors and young people who arrive in Italy alone”. It supports 8 projects throughout the national territory in order to promote the independence and inclusion of young migrants.
