The CESVI House of Smile is located in the heart of the Philippi slum, in Cape Town, and provides protection to women and children who are victims of domestic violence. It is the only structure of its kind inside a South African slum, even more precious during the Coronavirus emergency and the consequent lockdown and containment measures that have become necessary in the country, among the most severe in the world due to the spread. of the pandemic.
At the House of Smile women and children are welcomed in a serene and protected environment, and receive food, therapeutic and psychological support. Specific training courses on personal, parenting and professional skills are aimed at women to facilitate their access to the labor market with the aim of making them autonomous and emancipated from an economic point of view; children can instead access care services, school support and music workshops to rediscover a smile and serenity.
