On January 19th,
an Italian aid worker was kidnapped in Multan,
Pakistan, with a
German colleague. Both work for the German NGO
Welthungerhilfe, which is one of Cesvi’s partners in the European network
Alliance2015.
With reference to the kidnapping,
Cesvi does not intend to give interviews to anyone either on the event details or on the security policy.
This aims at ensuring a positive solution and at guaranteeing the safety of the Cesvi local and international staff operating in Multan.
In the meantime, Cesvi humanitarian projects will be carried out regularly. After facing the earthquake emergency in 2005,
Cesvi remains active in Pakistan supporting the population in the areas which have been severely hit by the floods in 2010 and 2011.
