A deal against poverty

Magneti Marelli supports Cesvi’s social business activities in Peru. A concrete and definite answer to help the poorest youths who are at risk of being marginalized and exploited.

In the huge and decaying suburbs of Lima, the tragedy of children sexual exploitation is widely diffused. Thousands of minors experience a situation of extreme poverty. And prostitution seems to them the easiest solution to escape this tragedy.

In order to get these youths away from the street and give them a new life prospect, Cesvi has been promoting for more than six years a social rehabilitation and development programme.
We offer them psychological and medical support and, when necessary, also legal support. Then we care about their complete social reintegration, both at school and at work. That’s way we organize training courses in different fields: breadmaking, tailoring, beauty treatment and computing.

But the most ambitious part of the programme is the start-up of social businesses where the young beneficiaries can find a job opportunity.
The first was Yoper, a social enterprise dealing in baking and catering which now hires 11 people (both boys and girls).

Following the good results of Yoper, Cesvi created Mistyca, a small beauty salon, and Artytex, for garment and accessories making.

The support of Magneti Marelli is particularly important and appreciated, as it will give a real contribution to the hatching of these enterprises.
The project foresees a “protected” entry into the market, through training and production, commercial and administrative advice.
