Cesvi was the first independent organization to start humanitarian activities in the country starting from 1997. To fulfil its mandate, within the limits imposed by the North Korean administration, Cesvi focused its attention on primary needs: finding and distributing drinking water, support for agriculture, and basic health. In these sectors it was possible to carry out an adequate monitoring of results achieved in rural areas and in medium sized towns.
Cesvi was forced to interrupt its projects and leave the country at the end of 2005.
